It Really Is About Serving

April 16, 2011, before David Petraeus was nominated to be head of the CIA and then forced to resign, he met privately with Fox News contributor Kathleen T. McFarland in Afghanistan:

Petraeus: I’m not out to go out and make money. The offers are unbelievable.

McFarland: No, you would’ve done that before now.

Petraeus: I would have done it long ago. So it really is about serving.

But that was then, and this is now:

Mr. Petraeus has received offers from the financial community and has taken trips to New York to explore what one of his associates called “long-term opportunities.” He has been asked to serve as a consultant to major companies...

I am so friggin' tired of this "I have sinned, forgive me" crap, surely following the advice of some personal advisor in order to get the gullible--read "most of the ever-anxious to be fed malarky" public--to think, "Hey, he has a lot of courage to stand up there and apologize, why, I'd vote for him...." Who cares who he screws? I only care about the people he killed.

Orwell writes of "the soldier’s attitude to life, which is fundamentally, in spite of discipline, a lawless attitude."

Also, a general's pay grade would seem to me to already bring in an unbelievale amount of money; but I guess, you know what they say: the poor are different.

I'm with you Rosemary, I would really like to see these fkrs held accountable - as for the money, well, they just can't seem to get enough, no matter how much they have.

NEVER enough nor can there ever be="He who dies with the most toys, wins," etc.
As far as the killing, well, U&I PAY HIM to do said killing. WE got OUR money's worth. Why complain?
Seriously, at THIS particular point in political time, WE should ask OURSELVES---what if it was a guy, another man, he was banging? Would WE have a different opinion over his resignation? Would he STILL be in office?

Susan: AGREED! In the game of LOTE, I'm thinking that Petraeus is a lot more lesser and a lot more competent than Brennen.

This design is incredible! You definitely know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost...HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
