Oligarchs

From Yves Smith:

Do you ever hear Carlos Slim or Rupert Murdoch or the Koch Brothers described as oligarchs?...Top executives have operated in a manner that is less obviously thuggish than the violent ways of some of Russia’s richest, but the hollowing out of labor and shortened job tenures have come with high costs across broad swathes of society.

This is a response to the prior post, where comments are closed (hope this is okay):

"Why APPARENTLY None in Congress had a clue these wars were a money grab(a STUPID&GREEDY mistake I might add), how could a Marine standing in line know?"

I KNOW THE ANSWER!!!

ALL WARS ARE STARTED WITH LIES, ALWAYS, THROUGH ALL OF TIME. And they are all money grabs/power grabs/resource grabs ALWAYS. (Ultimately, money grabs)

And that is how EVERYONE should know what is actually happening. This "rule" is always true, as far as I can tell. And all parents should be telling their children this starting as toddlers. The orphans will pick up the message in grade school.

There is never any such thing as "humanitarian" war, just as there is never any such thing as "improving" your spouse by beating the crap out of them or killing them.

I may be coming to this from a rather unusual perspective, but yes. Here in South America, it's pretty normal to refer to those people as oligarchs. In fact, the word "oligarca" and "oligarquía" are so overused in left-wing discourse here that it's become a bit of a joke.

But anyway, I know the question is really about the US media and political discourse. And you know the answer.

people usually call them "small business owners" or "my betters," when not referring to them by their first name, or praying to them.

No no no. They're "job creators." We know they provide work for assassins, at least.

I'll start doing this. I also need to resume referring to "American warlord Barack Obama."

There IS a simple answer to oligarchy. Its called nationalization.

Perhaps I'd rob them"-----Dylan

Since the Banks failed in 08 they have survived ONLY ON YOUR TAX DOLLARS,(and by extension, Wall Street).

Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly
enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I'm still new to everything. Do you have any helpful hints for first-time blog writers? I'd really appreciate it.
