Kyl-Lieberman Passes

Carah Ong has all the information on the Kyl-Lieberman Iran amendment, which just passed 76-22. Before the vote the language was changed from unbelievably horribly bad to merely very bad.

Clinton voted for it. Obama, audaciously and hopefully, missed the vote.

Unbelievably horribly bad to just very bad? Whew! Good thing that letter writing campaign worked! I'm going to send my check to the DNC right now!

This certainly is one more proof that the Democrats are no longer worthy of our votes. Electing a Democrat apparently means nothing. By the way, may an enormous pile of stinking shit fall on the voters of Connecticut who re-elected Joe L. when they should have known better.

Alan, what exactly is it you're attempting to accomplish?

Posted by: Jonathan Schwarz at September 26, 2007 04:34 PM

I'm appalled, although not that surprised. These people are idiots, scoundrels, or both. I wrote my Senators (and linked several of your posts on this - thanks for following it). One of them, Boxer, did vote against it, and I'm not surprised Feinstein voted for it, since she often votes the Bushie line. The AUMF in 2002 was bad enough, but what the hell is the excuse for this? Jim Webb's speeches on this have been good, and certainly gave sound reasons (and cover) for not voting for this.

Thanks very much for the Carah Ong link. And for the John Caruso one as well.

I wrote letters to both my senators two weeks ago and sent emails yesterday. Carper voted for it; Biden against. Disheartening.

What do we do next?

I'm going to try to make it to an Obama event tomorrow to ask why he didn't even vote.

Ready for this? It's called the "Obama for Commander in Chief Tour".

Can this vote be reversed even though it has already been voted on?

Posted by: Larry at September 26, 2007 06:31 PM

Nell,

Go to http://senate.gov/ for vote information (and a whole lot more besides). Similarly, when questing after the latest atrocity proposed or perpetrated in the other chamber, go to http://www.house.gov/. You may also access contact forms for your representatives through these sites. Whoo-hoo.

I'm just waiting for a Democrat to introduce a bill authorizing war with Iran.

Why this damn pussyfooting around?

They should just admit they're warmongers too and get it over with.

What am I trying to accomplish?

I'm getting a cheap laugh out of dumbfuck democrats who enjoy getting bent over and fucked right up the ass by their representatives over and over and over and over again.

I'm amusing myself with dipshit pundit-wannabes who see Karl Rove hiding behind every pixel and think they can somehow "reform" an utterly corrupt and purchased political party.

I'm marveling at the grand parade of do-nothing keyboard-tapping pwoggie-bloggies who would not fuck to save their own species and yet who whine and piss and moan about how haaaaaard it would be start a real political party as if it would be the first fucking time in history.

That's what I'm accomplishing, Charlie Brown. Plain and simple as the bullets in Pat Tillman's forehead.

Posted by: AlanSmithee at September 26, 2007 09:58 PM

That was a pretty boring rant, Alan. Don't feel bad--not many people can rant in any way that entertains or convinces or shakes people up, especially when they only have some obvious point they want to make in a rude manner. If you ever figure out how to do it, let me know, because it's a useful talent.

All that aside yeah, there is a problem with expecting anything good from the Democrats, and also a problem expecting anything good from a third party. If it's so easy to do why hasn't anyone succeeded in the past few decades? It's not like it hasn't been obvious that the Democrats stink.

For what little (very little) it's worth, I'm pleasantly surprised to see that Webb voted against it.

Sorry, Alan, you seem to have confused this site with Daily Kos. It's a common mistake, so here's a hint: they use a lot of orange over there.

By the way, is "would not fuck to save their own species" some sort of homophobic wisecrack?

I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Is there anything else you're trying to accomplish in this general area? Are you a union organizer? Are you a community organizer? Are you organizing a chapter of the green party, or another third party?

No, it's a wisecrack about general passionlessness.
