In regard to Mr Silber's piece, which was excellent, I think many, many Americans have an idea about just how bad we behave(d) in the world. I think they also know that we wouldn't have any of the wonderful toys that they strive for day in and day out with out behaving like the barbarians that we are. I also think that many Americans have a huge guilt-trip (deserved) going on and are afraid that the massive military machine can be turned on them too.

So what is the answer to this? Got me.

Stop outsourcing foreign policy to Israel.

turkey: As long as YOU keep handing this Administration, YOUR MONEY, they're going to outsourse to Israel. Can't have a HOLY WAR without a HOLY LAND to have a war over. W& Deadeye ARE on a Heavenly Mission, just ask them, they'll tell you.

I think this administration`s foreign policy has much less to do with the support of Isreali goals than it does has to do with their beliefs on how to support a narrower-than-usual interpretation U.S. goals. Namely, keeping the middle east free of anyone else's influence, least of all it's own.

Here's a striking sentence from an article in the neo-conservative NY Sun, "Imagining A War With Iran", by Youssef Ibrahim, February 2, 2007:

"America will be counting on setting Iran back a few decades economically, as it did the former Yugoslavia; on total support from scared Arab regimes; and on an uprising in Iran by a population that after 28 years of religious fanaticism may finally have had enough of the mullahs."

How about that.

They will welcome us with ROSES. Their Children will sing songs about us as HEROS and LIBERATORS for a thousand generations to come. ( If you don't believe, me just ask Ole Deadeye, he'll tell you)
