I'm Just As Disappointed As Everyone Else That I Shot Your Mother

Here's President Bush yesterday talking about Iraq:

I fully understand that the intelligence was wrong, and I'm just as disappointed as everybody else is.

That's nice, although I think I'd prefer if he were actually more disappointed than everybody else. Some days I even dare to dream he might be something more than "disappointed."

Actually, I think this is another case of transcript editing. Bush actually said:

"I fully understand that intelligence is wrong..."

It's another coded statement to his (shrinking) base. He's saying, "Don't think! Follow!"

KGB(King George Bush) doesn't understand that he doesn't understand.

Oh my god, Mike Meyer, I'm sorry, but I have to tell you: that is so fucking annoying.

If one went to Andover and Yale (Daddy) and Smith (Mommy) and oneself to Andover and Yale, others tend to disappoint one. In private, one can call them stupid fucking assholes, but in public that is a no-no. It's something one simply learns in the right preparatory schools and colleges, and many graduates speak two English languages. That's why bullshit and lying is so easy for them, until W came along and showed us why he would have gone to a "safety school" if his name had not been Bush.

saurabh:
Please forgive me if I have offended you with my little opinion. Perhaps I was not entertaining enough, didn't use enough explicitives (or any), or I didn't ramble on long enough. Is it that I'm not a Bush Republican? Or is it that I have an opinion at all? I breathlessly await your much valued critque.

Yeah. Bush sucks.

And a lot of people voted for him (plus the voting machine thing). And it looks like the Giants are going to be rained out tonight.

Right now I'm contemplating shots of Irish whiskey until midnight.

There is a line in the movie Dr. Strangelove during which, Peter Sellers as the American president, is talking to his opposite number on the hotline, telling him that a rogue general had launched several squadrons of B-52s equipped with nuclear warheads at the USSR. We only get Sellers' end of the conversation, sort of like a Bob Newhart (sp?) comedy bit.

At one point, Sellers says, obviously feeling cluelessly wounded, in response to something said by the Soviet premiere "Well, how do you think I feel, Dimitri?"

Wonder if he's quite as disappointed as the people who loved--and will always love, and grieve--the Americans and Iraqis who died or were maimed. I'll bet they're REALLY disappointed.

What really gets me about this touching quotation is that I know he said it in that contemptuous, irritable way he has of addressing anyone who challenges him. That "I can't believe I have to waste my time explaining this" tone.

Not to mention that, uh, the intelligence wasn't wrong. The lying shit and his bloody little pals just chose to ignore the parts that were right.
