Comments: Credit Where Credit Is Due

This whole thing smells fishy to me. DNA identification and the quick burial at sea makes me wonder about a few things. Like the timing.

Sheriff Obama gunned down bin Laden. Reelect Sheriff Obama so he can finish the job of bringing law and order to the world. What's fishy about that?

Well, if he weren't dead we'd presumably be seeing new videos on Al Jazeera eventually. As far as him having already been dead, I can imagine more opportune times to make the announcement. Aside from which, as annoyed as I can be by the reflexive dismissal of "conspiracy theories," my first inclination is not to believe in them.

Speaking of which, here's something about one of Doctah Charlie's favorites: http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/2011/04/confessions-of-a-former-trigger/

Ugh. Barfbarfbarf.

Why dump the body in the sea? Now there is no proof one way or the other. Whatever man, I'm not married to the idea that this is bullshit but who knows.

Rob: I'll just wait for Osama's next video. He'll tell us what happened.

>> Why dump the body in the sea?

That's called "waterboarding."

Ding-dong, bin Laden's dead:
Now can I go back to bed?

People sneer when conspiracy is mentioned yet conspiracies happen all the time. Just off the top of my head I can think of Watergate, The Gulf of Tonkin conspiracy that landed us in Vietnam, there was the conspiracy that got us into Iraq, the conspiracy that got us into Libya, there is the conspiracy called the housing bubble, the conspiracy that allowed Obama to steal your money and give it to his rich sponsors, so if you sneer at conspiracy you are sadly deluded.

I really cannot and never will believe that the incompetent morons that we have seen like the penis bomber and the shoe bomber and the Times Square bomber could have ever pulled off the 9/11 stunt. Now, with bin Laden dead we perhaps have lost the best source of finding out what really happened on 9/11.

If UBL (I love the way everybody accepts the stylenote to not spell the dude's name the way it was pronounced - don't want to use USA to spell Usama) was clever he'd have already created a bunch of videos to use after his death alluding to vague but predictable historical events in all possible versions. "I congratulate Mr Obama/Ms Palin/Mr Daniels/etc on their (re)election and renew my vow to destroy you! For lying about my death Al Qaeda will wreake vengeance in the manner of the hurricane which did notable damage to a region of the US recently or the floods in that other part of the world you might remember hearing about." *Holds up newspaper with headline "Steroids Scandal in American Sport of Some Description"*

Re: "Ugh. Barfbarfbarf." Well, yeah, point taken...

Comrade godoggo mentions, as an example of a conspiracy theory, the issue of Sarah Palin's Babygate: Big Lie or Reckless Ride. The comment by crashfrog at the cited Yglesias post is worth reading:

"One thing I notice a lot is that the evidence in support of Sarah's story gets overstated a lot: lifting 'an outer layer of clothing to show that she was indeed pregnant' becomes 'a clear look at her round belly'. A single doctor stating that Trig was born at Mat-Su, but not to whom or how, becomes the entire neo-natal unit swearing on Bibles that they watched Trig emerge from Sarah.

This 'definitive refutation' isn't very definitive; it's basically the recollections of Steve Quinn, who never actually saw anything that couldn't have been faked by stage props you can order online.

And then, again, we have the birth certificate that Sarah Palin said she released but never actually did. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, and this is just all an amusement for me, but as a reasonable person I don't see that there's been any definitive refutation unless you dramatically overstate the evidence provided in the Salon story."

Anyways, as long as we're amusing ourselves, I suppose I could see Obama see the Bin Laden announcement as a way to deflect criticism for killing another of Gaddhafi's offspring, which I guess didn't work out so good the 1st time around. Who knows.

Tony Soprano whacks Phil Leotardo. Biggest celebration ever! Justice served.

Anyway, belatedly, yeah, I have to say those pictures of Palin do look pretty unpregnant to me.
