Comments: An Old Way Backward

Those bloody wogs just don't understand our altruistic intentions. Haven't they heard of "Change You Can Believe In?"(tm) Harrumph!

Something in the Afghan mind that won't just won't take the long view. Given enough time all this will settle out and into a better way. Got to break eggs to make an omelette. No use crying over spilled milk.
Maybe that's it. They're cliché deprived. Too much Koran, not enough NYTimes.
Possibly Negroponte's little $100 laptops (what happened to them anyway?) could be dropped all over the place over there, with built-in free subscriptions to the Post and the Times, and podcasts of FOXNews, and a daily aphorism widget. Have to teach 'em all English first though, huh? But that shouldn't be too hard, considering how many military personnel are going to be there. And how much money is available.

Any chance that they invited Kagan in order to stick him into a charity dunking booth?
