Comments: Bush's Last Speech

JUST LIKE NIXON, WE will forgive George and, of course, forget ANY lessons to be learned. WE put up with his crimes for 8 years without the first pithfork, without the first torch. Seems like WE ARE the problem, not George and Dick.

George and Dick are merely the consistant result of a persistant problem.

We must keep a sharp eye out for the next Pinter, rest his soul. The harbingers are jostling at the gates of this on-rushing year.

Bush didn't do it alone, we helped a lot. We gave him money, we voted for his actions and our media thought that he is a great guy,

koshem bos: EXACTLY! Looking at what U have pointed out, Bush and Cheney become our heros, the norm, NOT the abberation, the LOGICAL conclusion.

Here we go again -- Bush, Cheney, Obama, et al are OUR fault. If you want to judge yourself by those standards then go to it. I don't buy it.

Don Bacon: The Chinese didn't elect them, WE did. The Russians didn't say borrow YOURselves into deep debt to attack Afghanistan and Iraq, WE did. India didn't say "go torture, its OK," WE did. Australia didn't tell us to look the other way at Bush and Cheney's crimes, WE were just plain apthetic on OUR OWN. Unless YOU ARE A CITIZEN of this great nation then I would have to say YOU are not at fault. If YOU ARE A CITIZEN, then responsibility IS the price of YOUR CITIZENSHIP. (I think of myself as AN AMERICAN CITIZEN)

Mike,
Did you elect anyone who represented your views? I know your views, and I know the answer is "no." Did not the people who were elected tell you that they weren't interested in focus groups and they didn't give a rat-shit about what you wanted? Yes. So don't give me that crap about how you were liable for what these criminals did. You may glory in that guilt trip but it's not for me. I know what I believe in and I know I gave a thousand bucks to Nader in a previous election. I know I didn't vote for either of the bums in the last election and so my conscious is clear.

In the final analysis we are only what we believe we are. "What a man thinks of himself." The rest?

"What is called politics is comparatively something so superficial and inhuman, that practically I have never fairly recognized that it concerns me at all. The newspapers, I perceive, devote some of their columns specially to politics or government without charge; and this, one would say, is all that saves it; but as I love literature and to some extent the truth also, I never read these columns at any rate. I do not wish to blunt my sense of right so much. I have not got to answer for reading a single President's Message."--Thoreau

You go ahead thinking of yourself as a dependable American citizen; I am a man who thinks about what I think of myself.

Don Bacon: Make NO mistake---I believe I live in a MAJORITY RULE nation. I'M WITH THE MAJORITY no matter what. If Bush IS my president then he IS my president. That does NOT in any way mean I will not speak MY MIND. My mind guesses right now that YOU PAY YOUR TAXES i.e. pay just like the REST OF US. OUR MONEY, therin lies the problem isn't it. I don't see ANY AMERICAN on the lines with a rifle poping off Palestinians. How about U? But the rifle is YOURS AND MINE.
