Comments: Someone I Disagree With Looks Ridiculous!

Maybe he's going trick or treating as Bill the Cat.

Now that's politicing AMERICAN style!!! No wonder the world stands in awe of US. WE really are exceptional.

I thought the point is that he's a zombie, and hence hungry for the flesh of the living.

When one remembers that these 2 are philosophically as close as twins, "WE ARE FUCKED" doesn't even begin to describe OUR situation.

Jon, does this make you want to kill yourself?

Plus, another question: do you remember the footage of Wolfowitz combing his hair with spit in Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11"? Approve/disapprove/don't care?

I ask because I thought it was inspired. Pointing out that people with power are still people - hence fallible - is very valuable.

My guess is a very large bowel obstruction. It tends to kick large amounts icky tasting bile back up the old esophagus.

Just one tasteless side effect of having one's head up one's ass for so damn long.

John Caruso: Perhaps the Senator didn't realize he was out in public, on TV, viewed worldwide, at a Presidential Debate. I'm sure an "excuse me, sir" or "pardon me, Bro" would have been more dignafied and becoming of the office than sticking ones tongue out. The WORLD looks on and they ALREADY think the worst of US.

I don't get Aaron ... what's "fallible" about combing your hair with spit?

Posted by BoneDog at October 16, 2008 04:20 PM

@ BoneDog - Admittedly nothing. But have you seen the movie? It's the contrast which was enlightening to me. Viz:

A) Here's Paul Wolfowitz, VERY SERIOUS PERSON way smarter than you, telling us all that we MUST INVADE IRAQ RIGHT NOW or we'll all die and BY THE WAY it will be easy and won't cost us anything. He's got lots of fancy degrees and important friends and obviously knows better than me.

B) Here's Paul Wolfowitz, licking his comb and running it through his greasy hair like a regular Joe, but on camera. Maybe he's not any better than me.

I do lots of stuff more disgusting than combing my hair with spit. I'm human. But so's Paul Wolfowitz. That's the point. It's also the point to Jon's post.

Like?

You don't just leave something like that out there.

Actually, even out of context these pictures make me like McCain incrementally more than I did before I saw them. It looks like he's making a goofy-ass face because he just screwed up. That shows a sense of humor that has been noticeably absent from his campaign.

I mean, it's not something that would make me want to vote for him, or invite him to dinner, or talk to him on a long train trip or anything. But it doesn't make me want to mock him.

(The sheepish look that Bush gave when he tried to walk off-stage and open the locked door a few years back - that made me want to mock him. This just makes me giggle.)

Jon, thanks for including the second pic; what's eerie about it is that I could swear I saw one just like it a few weeks ago. Maybe it was just the position of the hands; there can't be too many with that face.

Though McCain's tongue may have a mind or conscience of its own. The guys at fivethirtyeight.com noted that it juts out, lizard-like, whenever he makes a particularly dishonest attack. With a 'tell' like that, he'd be cleaned out at poker.

Here's another good one (albeit a deliberate caricature):
