Comments: NO

The Pelosi link ignores any comments that don't come from her constituents in San Francisco. (They don't tell you that until after you've clicked "send.")

The right link is: http://www.speaker.gov/contact/

(Of course, she may ignore our comments anyway, if history is any guide... but write anyway.)

JS, I suggest you fix the link here and at This Modern World.

Brilliant! Write your corporate-owned congress critter! That's sure to work! Of course it will! Always has! Prove it won't!

Via Bloomberg:
Nancy Pelosi's husband owns between 1/4 and 1/2 million $ in AIG shares. Frau Kerry $2m.
56 senators and reps own shares in Lehman, AIG, Fannie Mae, Frddie Mac, Bear Stearns...

What in the name of Belzebub do you expect from them and their colleagues? How can they "SERVE THE PEOPLE" (soooo quaint a notion, so retro...)if it's in their self-interest to protect their financial well-being?
What we have is sillier than a French farce, but not even a tiny bit as amusing.
Outrage gets talked over. We should all fall off our chairs from laughing too hard and promise never to vote again. 30% today, 70% next year. Let this rotten house collapse, rotten beam by rotten beam.

Hoyer won't permit comments from non-constituents. Anyone know if there's another link for him, like Pelosi's Speaker link?

Office of the Speaker 1-202-225-0100 NO BAILOUTS.

I say we go to every company that has any "assets" they want to sell, and offer to buy the entire company for a few cents on the dollar.

If they have anything they need to sell, then by definition, their entire company is worth less than the asset they are trying to dump.

I bet you could buy every company on Wall Street for ten dollars each, and then spend the trillion dollars just liquidating the liabilities.

Assets? They don't have any assets.

and this would accomplish what?

Use zipcode 20770 to bypass Hoyer's constituent filter.

CREDO sent this out - they set up an 800 number that connects to Reid's office.

an you take two minutes to call Senator Reid and ask him to oppose the bailout unless it includes equity and oversight?

This process is short, easy, and makes a big difference. Here's how it works:

Call 1-888-426-0462. That's CREDO's toll-free action line — we'll connect you to Senator Reid's office.
When you get connected to Senator Reid's office, you'll have the option to leave him a voice message right away. Please leave him a message asking him to reject the Wall Street bailout unless it includes an equity stake for taxpayers, opposes golden parachutes for CEOs, imposes a moratorium on all Wall Street campaign contributions and PAC activity, strengthens regulations and oversights for the banking industry, and helps Americans in danger of losing their homes. A bailout without these sensible provisions is just plain irresponsible. We can't afford to give the Bush Administration another blank check.
If you don't want to leave a message, you'll also have the option to wait on the line to speak to a staff member. Your hold time may be several minutes, but if you have the time to wait, we encourage you to do so. (See talking points below for live conversations — or longer messages!)
And that's the whole process! We want to flood Senator Reid's office with messages to make sure he knows that if he caves on this issue, we will hold him accountable.

Call 1-888-426-0462 right now to be connected to Senator Reid.

Then, when you're done, can you get five friends involved? (Click here to send e-mails from our convenient tell-a-friend page.) We will win or lose this fight on the strength and speed of the movement we build, so please help us spread the word.

Thank you for fighting back against the Bush Administration.

May be, all will not be lost if some of the elected officials have the will to demand many provisions for the ordinary americans in any plan if at all it passes though have called my senators not to vote for it.

xyz, good to see you back, but thrice?

Anywho -- How's the firecracker doing?

And where's the harm in us calling the congress to bitch? The masters of the universe are out there looking for a handout, so their understanding of these complex interactions are lacking. Their answer to complexity appears to be: driving a truck to the treasury and asking to fill er up. Lacks a certain finesse in my view.

I hope the motherfucking system collapses under the weight of its own corruption.

We need that reset event.

Faxes are better than phone calls, emails, and even paper letters (which take extras days to get there because of the post-anthrax-attack screening).

Write up a letter in just the format you'd print it out if you were mailing it, and fax it in to the office desired. All Congressional phone and fax numbers can be found at congress.org.
