Comments: Scott Horton Debates Some Guy

Ya know, when Winthrop gave the sermon about the shining city upon a hill, he was talking about how a theocratic colony in Massachusetts needed to live up to its own standards, as an object lesson for the glorious institutions of the puritan faith. He was talking about upholding "a familiar commerce together in all meekness, gentleness, patience and liberality", not this gargantuan metropolis-robot Harvey is talking about, that polishes up its cruise missiles, marches down the hill, and kicks ass for freedomcake and the otherwise general fuck of it.

Experiment??? I'll just bet it is. Welcome to lab-rat land.

The American Dream.. for people to live in peach and harmony... just the way we fucking tell them to.

I think the next person who tries to justify American empire or any obligation to 'spread the message of McLiberty' to me, and who has never worn the combat boots and pointed the guns at little kids is going to get a punch in their imperialistic face from yours truly. Harvey Kushner and myself would have a truly memorable date. You just can't talk to or debate people like that, 95% of what he says is based on false premise and bullshit. The only way I could debate that son of a bitch is to go back in my time machine and teach him some stuff when he was a little kid. He's way to far gone now, and the only recourse in my mind is a good ass kicking. He has his justifications for violence that he will never see, I just envision bringing it home to him.

Gee, if only all those dead Iraqis knew that they were donating their lifes to an experiment for democracy and liberty!

And I just want all you lefties to remember: Next time you justify growing or using the power of the State to help people, you are feeding the same beast that the other side uses for war. You wanna help people join the damn Peace Corps (and that is in no way sarcastic).

Could someone please summarize? I'm not willing to spend forty-five minutes (assuming he gets half the airtime) on a "terrorism" "expert."

I've only watched the first 30 minutes or so but I'll try my best.

---

Horton - People tend to dislike being occupied by foreign powers. It's the blowback, stupid.

Terror Expert- Everyone deserves a chance to be loved by American Supply Side Jesus. We have a moral responsibility to throw our freedom bombs until this happens.

MODERATOR: Some introductory statements about Operation Iraqi Freedom, please.

HORTON: It was an act of aggression.

KUSHNER: It was an act of aggression.

[CREAM FILLING DEFICIENT PIE FIGHT]

KUSHNER: My shining assault-class BattleMech Marauder Fafnir II is the size of a city and it's going to come down from this hill here and kick your anti-American ass all the way back to Woodstock, you dirty fucking hippy.

HORTON: I'm not scared of your dolls, Harvy.

And at around 1:10 Harvey explodes into vituperations about "a 5th column" in the United States, "including in the congress".

He is from the start clearly living inside some sort of paranoid sci-fi alternate reality, and starting there he just opens up all the window shades and invites you right inside the door.

Did they find this guy under a rock at the john birch society that nobody's nudged in 60 years? I kept expecting him to start blubbering about the movie Exodus and how if it wasn't for people like Scott we could catch Bin Laden with boyscout armed with optical scanning superlasers.

Videos the begin playing automatically upon entering a website are really, really annoying.

THE ONLY WAY to "get BIN LADEN" is on a moped with a single shot rifle, YOU'll never get the second shot. OR talk him into surrender.

I second jm's annoyance with the autoplay.

And I agree with everyone's assessment on the twit in the video. Zounds! Shocker, right?

Posted by No One of Consequence at September 13, 2008 05:13 PM

Okay, the video reloads and starts each time one posts.

Jonathan, it's really annoying.

Damn, I shouldn't have listened to this thing, very unpleasant. Thank god for O'Reilly and Limbaugh, and why can't more of these scumbags have names like 'O'Reilly' and 'Limbaugh'?

Kushner starts off hackish, but then really starts foaming at the mouth with the hard-core right-wing talking points about 40 minutes in. He's also got a fine 'Only in this country would we tolerate the right of traitors like you to speak' around 48 minutes in. I do think that Kushner actually believes much of the crap he's spouting, but he uses so many bullshitting techniques in his arguments he remains more a scoundrel than a dunce. "Fifth column" and "Iraq was an experiment" are the worst – although pretending his piffle deriding "law enforcement" is pretty bad, too. Yeah, all the beat cops I know call in missile strikes in foreign lands… Horton drinks that McCarthy wannabe's milkshake.
